Well, let’s pick up where I left off…
My trip to Malaysia was an experience of a lifetime. From diving the most amazing dive sites of my life, to meeting fantastic and hopefully lifelong friends, and loving every minute of it. Here are some highlights.
First, the diving:
I gotta start with a selfie
Lots to see, including this lionfish
Turtles were everywhere – and massive
So I got a few cheeky shots
Though this guys was sleepy
These guys were having no part and tried attacking my mask
At Sipadan, there are tornadoes of 3 -4 feet long barracuda – this is in the tornado
The tornado from a distance
Also some massive swarms of jacks
Including a few sharks looking for lunch
All in, we saw about 40 sharks. Here are some up close
A few more circled around us
It was really the turtles that were friendly
And not scared of us in the least
The fish were incredible too
With more swarms of barracuda
Some sleepy sharks
Curious clownfish
And inquisitive eels
—
Above water, we passed our time taking in some sun
And collecting hermit crabs
This guy had questionable choices in housing
So we got them together and had races.
Run baby run!
—
Above water, it was about having some fun and enjoying ourselves.
Watching the days’ dive footage
With many games of Farkle to follow
Some banter
And celebrating our devil ray sighting
having a few beers
All with new friends
Some more interesting than others…
—
On the downtime, there was time to explore Mabul
Seeing the various resorts with over water bungalows
Meeting a few of the domestic animals
And most importantly, lounging on our private beach
Also seeing how the turtle hatcheries were going
Shh, they’re sleeping.
That’s all for my 5 days on Mabul
It’s back across the countryside past the palm plantations
And on to a flight to Kota Kinabalu
For a few more days in the sun!
More to come on the next highlight – still so much to show…
Some nice pics and great memories jarrett. Farkle lives on and has been plate and passed on throughout our central american travels – now onto South America. Just dived Galapagos and it was incredible! But Sipadan and Mabul will always be great memories. And what food times with Develray-Dave haha.
Was great to meet and chill with you and the Chief.
